EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Eau Claire Transit will turn 50 years old in 2025. Upcoming plans for the new transit center are hoping to boost ridership with their soon-to-be finalized improvements. They say they are starting a “Micro Transit” pilot program to give northside riders a door-to-door experience in a shared van. City of Eau Claire Transit Manager Ty Fadness explains, “On the northside or town, we think… and what we hear from the community members… our busses have a tough time serving them because of the geography of the area and relatively low population density.”

The new transfer center in downtown Eau Claire will open in the summer of 2025. Eau Claire Transit says they are still trying to figure out partnerships with other major institutions like the one they currently have with UW Eau Claire.
