Job Title: Garage Shift Supervisor
Department/Division: Maintenance - Garage
Location: Kinnickinnic Garage
Shift: 2nd Shift - 10:00 AM TO 8:30 PM - Sunday Thru Wednesday
FLSA Status: Exempt - Non-Represented
Salary Range: $72,700- $90,900
JOB SUMMARY:
Supervises day-to-day garage operations at assigned location to ensure efficient and timely maintenance, repair, nightly parking and pull out of all buses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides effective garage supervision while maintaining a high level of garage production by monitoring timeliness and completion of all garage functions.
- Ensures the completion and accuracy of all maintenance records and documents, including daily reports, accident reports, etc.
- Provides training, advice, direction and guidance to all maintenance staff with emphasis on new hires.
- Performs inspections to ensure all buses are clean, safe, reliable and ready for their morning routes.
- Enforces Company policies and procedures and issues disciplines as needed.
- Ensures building and grounds are clean, tidy and all vital functions are working properly.
- Creates work orders as needed for building repairs.
- Investigates accidents and enters reporting data.
- Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five (5) years’ experience as a diesel, automotive or heavy-equipment mechanic required.
- Valid Class D Wisconsin Driver’s License (non-probationary) required.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with “P” Endorsement with no air brake restriction or ability to obtain valid CDL permit.
- Associate's Degree in Automotive Maintenance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- One (1) year supervisory experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of diesel engines, systems and other heavy-duty vehicle equipment and components.
- Knowledge of Federal Transit Administration and Federal Motor Carrier rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of MCTS operations and policies.
- Knowledge of applicable union contracts.
- Skilled in computer operations and related software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Dynamics 365, Outlook).
- Ability to manage conflict and balance competing interests from multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to coach, support, and lead/supervise others.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
- Work is frequently conducted in an office, shop, construction or warehouse site environment with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts or airborne particles, toxic chemicals or substances, and loud noises.
- Physical requirements are those described as light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects.’
- Must submit to and pass a DOT drug screen upon offer acceptance.
