Salary Range:                                 $67,800-$84,767                             

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Station Supervisor oversees day-to-day operations of the station including monitoring operators, investigating and resolving complaints. Provides oversight of administrative records. Supervises assigned staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Monitors and interacts with operators daily regarding personal and professional matters.
  2. Maintains Operators’ records relating to attendance, tardiness, accidents and incidents, Company and public complaints and commendations.
  3. Coaches Operators who have work-related problems.
  4. Monitors operator sick days and checks daily attendance in operator records; checks for FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) coverage.
  5. Monitors daily operation of station activities to ensure delivery of quality service to the community.
  6. Rides with Operators in order to observe performance.
  7. Interviews operators with excessive sick days and follows through with discipline as necessary.
  8. Checks overall records for previous disciplines issued.
  9. Investigates incidents and accidents, determines preventability and logs information into employee records.
  10. Performs daily investigations using videos and interviews.
  11. Issues discipline in accordance with Company policy.
  12. Performs quarterly and yearly evaluations and interviews; inputs data into employee record files.
  13. Consults with management for decision-making and problem solving.
  14. Supervise Station functions in the absence of the Division Manager.
  15. Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Five (5) years’ experience in public transportation or similar government structure required. 
  2. One (1) year of supervisory experience preferred.
  3. Experience supervising under a collective bargaining agreement preferred.
  4. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Knowledge of applicable union contracts.
  2. Knowledge of bus requirements.
  3. Knowledge of Federal Transit Administration and Federal Motor Carrier rules and regulations.
  4. Knowledge of procurement and vendor management procedures and best practices.
  5. Knowledge of MCTS operations and policies.
  6. Knowledge of safety hazards.
  7. Knowledge of timekeeping and leave management principles, such as FMLA.
  8. Knowledge of transit industry trends and best practices.
  9. Skilled in computer operations and spreadsheet, word processing, presentation and related software.
  10. Ability to coach and support operators.
  11. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  12. Ability to lead/supervise others.
  13. Ability to manage conflict and balance competing interests from multiple stakeholders.
  14. Ability to work independently.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

  1. Work is frequently conducted in an office or similar indoor environment relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards.
  2. Physical requirements are those described as light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects.
